Archeologist

Posted by Logan

Out of all of the places he had been, Dr. Wiseman recognized the utter remoteness of where he was. Deep in the Costa Rican jungle in which he was searching was void of evidence of any human existence. The jungle was over grown with vegitation and the trek through this particular part of the jungle was especiallly tough for himself and his two hired guides, Enrique and Anna Acosta, that led him to his destination, because as far as he knew, no one had traveled this far into this part of this territory.

They stopped in a small clearing to catch their breath and hydrate under a large tree that was leaning radically toward the north. Dr. Wiseman pulled the maps from out of his back pack to once again, make sure that they were traveling in the right direction. The maps that Dr. Wiseman was aquired by a colleague at NASA, Dr. Jane Scott, whom he had gone to college at the University of Chicago and had even dated for a while in their wiley youth. The satalite photos had been shown to Dr. Wiseman by Dr. Scott because of the unusual topographical features that one of the NASA satalites had shot while mapping parts of Central America. There were definite outlines of geometric shapes, such as squares, rectangles and even pyramidal shapes that are not natural formations, especially in this type of topagraphical terrain.

Unexpected Arrivals

Posted by Logan

Standing in the kitchen, contemplating the void that was the refrigerator, Lisa had a rare moment of home-sickness.  Generally, she loved her life, but tonight she was nostalgic for the days when someone else decided what was for dinner.   She settled on left-over chinese take out and headed for the sofa to watch television.  Before she could sit, the doorbell startled her.  She sat the take out on the coffee table and headed to the door, wondering if Jake had decided not to play poker tonight after all.

"Mom!" she screached as she opened the door, "I was just thinking about you."  She reached out to hug her mother and was greeted with a suitcase.  A suitcase, she quickly realized, that was one of many.

" Your father and I are getting divorced." Her mother stated flatly, "I need a place to stay."
